Croí are a registered charity based at University College
Hospital, Galway since 1985. The Charity relies entirely on
a voluntary effort and the fundraising events held during
the year are vital to achive the aims of the Foundation. The
Foundations main aims can be divided into three main areas
of activity namely: Education, Research and the Development
of Cardiac Services and Facilities in the West of Ireland.
The heart Charity is committed to providing the highest possible
standard of Cardiac care for the people of counties Galway,
Mayo and Roscommon.

Galway Bay Seafront Charity Fun Walk
Sunday, 30th April 2006

Description:
Croí is delighted to have been nominated as one of
the beneficiary charities of this year's Merlin Park Hospital
Walkers & Friends Annual Charity Fun Walk. This year's
event is the Inaugural 'Galway Bay Seafront Mini-Marathon
Charity Fun Walk (5 miles)', which takes place on Sunday,
April 30th, departing the Claddagh Hall, Galway at 12 noon.
This event is open to men, women and children of all ages
(children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult).

Inaugural Inishbofin Half-Marathon
Friday, 5th - Sunday, 7th May 2006
Location: Inishbofin Island, Connemara
Description:
The Inaugural Inishbofin Half-Marathon will take place on
Saturday, May 6th, starting at 10.30am. The route, which will
utilise the main road around the island, offers stunning views
from every side of the island and will be challenging, particularly
on the incline of the High Road.
Places for this unique event are limited to 65, with only
10 places now remaining. Places are offered on a first-come,
first-served basis. Runners and walkers are equally welcome.

Lough Corrib Cycle

Description:
Annual Croí Lough Corrib Cycle is a fundraising, family
fun-cycle, offering the option of a 25-mile or a 75-mile route
through scenic Connemara. Cyclists depart Galway for a route
through Moycullen, Oughterard, Maam Cross (25-miles), Cornamona,
Cong, Headford and finishing in Galway (75-miles).

Croí Raceday 2006 - 'The Ultimate
Racing Experience'

The Croí Raceday Event at the Annual Summer Racing
Festival in Ballybrit, is now well-established as the 'Ultimate
Racing Experience'. The day kicks off with a champagne reception,
followed by luncheon, during which expert tipsters mark you
card to help you pick the winners. A key feature of the day
is the Croí Sweepstake Super Prize Giveaway - last
year's prize fund was over € 15,000.

Connemara Ramble (Croí)

Description:
Take a "Ramble Through Scenic Connemara" in aid
of Croí on Sunday, September 24th. This is an enjoyable
10-mile walk in the stunning Connemara countryside. Places
are limited to 100 walkers. Refreshments will be provided.

Croí Inishbofin Island Trekking
Challenge
Saturday, October 14th
Location: Inishbofin Island, Connemara, Co Galway
Description:
The 2006 Inishbofin Island Trekking Challenge is a new event
for Croí, the West of Ireland Cardiology Foundation,
located on one of the most westerly islands off the Atlantic
coast of Ireland.
The trekking challenge will take places on Saturday, October
14th starting at 9am. The route will have you trekking on
a variety of surfaces and terrain to include road, bog, beach,
shale, 'hill and hollow'. Irrespective of weather, the Island
offers stunning views from every side and is dotted with landmarks
of historical, cultural and archeological interest. This trek
will be challenging in it's mixture of terrain - and if we
are unfortunate enough to encounter less than ideal weather
conditions (a real risk in October)!!
The Croí package is based on 2-nights twin-sharing
Bed & Breakfast (Friday, October 13th/Saturday, October
14th) and two evening meals at the newly appointed Days Inishbofin
House Hotel. It also includes return ferry transfers from
Cleggan Pier.
Places for this exciting event are limited to 45 and are available
on a first-come, first-served basis
